A good First Edition copy of Edith Nesbit's excellent work on the importance of encouraging and nurturing imagination as part of the wider education of children. Chapter headings include "Beauty And Knowledge", "The Moral Code", "Romance In Games", "Priase And Punishment" and "The Poor Child's City".

Book Condition (Overall) - Good: Hardback, 8vo (approx 8 inches / 20 cm tall), 197 pages with many monochrome illustrations and photographs. Light to moderate general wear, rubbing and soiling to the original illustrated green boards and spine (boards moderately bowed, significant fading / sunning to spine cloth with moderate bruising to spine extremities), front board illustration very clear, securely bound but rear hinge weakening at page 193 with narrow strip of webbing exposed, toning / foxing to endpapers and text block edges, neat gift inscription on front free endpaper (dated 1916), occasional paper edge nicks / corner creases (text not affected), vertical crease to page 107, some very occasional light to moderate internal soiling / foxing but generally very clean and clear in a Good+ condition throughout. No dust jacket.
