A good First Edition copy of this fascinating retelling of the Battle of Trafalgar as if it had happened in the early 1900s with dreadnoughts instead of sail power.
No publishing history but believed to have been published c1905 based on the Foreword date. There is only one mono plate illustration in this volume (as photographed) - given the lack of an illustrations index the number of plates there should be is open to considerable confusion, some copies appearing to have several while others have none.
Book Condition - Good: Hardback, 12mo (approx 7.5 inches / 19 cm tall), 328 pages with six folding battle plans and one mono plate (small amounts of edge creasing to the folding plans; splash soiling to the edges of the first folding plan; cellotape repairs to lengthy closed tears on the plain reverse of two plans with similar short repairs to the remaining four - no loss).
Moderate to significant general wear and soiling to the original illustrated boards and spine (heavy splash soiling to rear board and bottom edge of the front board), gilt spine lettering faded but still clear and bright, front board illustration colours clear and fresh, no previous ownership inscriptions, securely bound with hinges fully intact, all edges blue (faded / rubbed), significant foxing to the endpapers and edges of the first and last few pages but thereafter very clean and clear with some occasional edge foxing / finger soiling. There is a numbering error with page 91 immediately following page 88 - however the text appears to flow from one to the other without interruption. No dust jacket.
