A Good+ signed and inscribed First Edition copy of this very hard to find original collection of Morris's fantasy tales. Beautifully illustrated with eight unusually abstract and modern colour plates by K. Romney Towndrow (all confirmed present in excellent conditon, two with loose original tissue guards still present).
Includes a lengthy hand-written poem and presentation inscription from Kenneth Morris to the actor and theatre manager Sir Johnston Forbes Robertson on the front free endpaper (dated March 1930). Acclaimed as one of the leading and most influential fantasy writers of the early 20th Century signed works by Kenneth Morris are exceptionally rare - an inscription of this length being almost unique.
Book Condition - Good+: Hardback, 8vo (approx 8 inches / 21 cm tall), 199 pages with eight colour plates. Moderate to significant general wear and soiling to the original black boards and spine, gilt spine lettering and front board illustration clear and bright, securely bound with hinges fully intact, top edge blue, light to moderate toning and foxing to endpapers and rough cut text block edges, several pages still unopened, internally beautifully clean and clear on light cream coloured paper with very light paper edge toning in a Very Good condition throughout. No dust jacket.
