The Modern Builder's Assistant 1747, Facsimile First Edition - Boards

A near-Very Good First Facsimile Edition of this masterly 1747 treatise on architectural best practise by the architects William and John Halfpenny, surveyor Robert Morris and wood carver T. Lightoler. Printed in association with the Royal Institute of British Architects from the original in their possession. Privately owned with no previous ownership marks or inscriptions.

Book Condition - Good+: Hardback, 50 numbered pages comprising Preface, architectural history and detailed descriptions of the 85 mono plates (including two folding plates) that are also included in this volume. Light to moderate general wear and soiling to the original green boards and spine (without which the condition of this book would have been Fine-), gilt spine and front board lettering very clear and fresh, securely bound, light toning and foxing to endpapers and paper edges, small area of creasing to fore-edge of folding plate 75 (illustration not affected), otherwise internally beautifully clean and clear in a near-Fine condition throughout. No dust jacket. A lovely copy of this extremely rare volume.
