A First Edition reading copy of this very hard to find collection of letters from the Crimean War by a former Lieutenant-Colonel of the 46th Regiment. A well read ex-Mudies Select Library and Bradford Library and Literary Society copy with the usual library markings and light to moderate soiling / finger smudging throughout.
Book Condition - Fair Minus: Hardback, 12mo (approx 7.5 inches / 19.5 cm tall), xx + 411 pages with frontispiece portrait and folding map (chipping to map fore-edge - no loss of detail). Heavy general wear and soiling to the original maroon boards and spine (spine cloth split along the length of the front and rear boards - boards still attached but rear board only held by webbing and binding cords; chipping and fraying to spine extremities with small amounts of loss), gilt spine lettering very faded but still legible with faded library number to base of spine, text block firmly bound but hinge papers splitting with some webbing exposed (most notably at the rear hinge), dusting / toning to rough-cut text block edges, library stickers on front board and front pastedown with several internal library stamps, some corner creasing and a couple closed paper edge tears (no loss), intermittent light internal foxing, internally clear and easy to read in a Fair+ condition throughout. No dust jacket.
