A good First Edition copy of this very hard to find collection of Colonial reminiscences by Sir Montagu Gerard (later to become Head of the British Military Mission to the Russian army in Manchuria).
Book Condition - Good: Hardback, 8vo (approx 9 inches / 22.5 cm tall), vii + 399 pages with 25 illustrations on 21 mono plates (including frontispiece, all confirmed present in good condition) and four page publisher's catalogue at rear. Moderate to significant general wear to the original red boards and spine, gilt front board lettering and tiger illustrations very clear and bright, securely bound with hinges fully intact, original owner's neat signature on half title, small snag to frontispiece plate (tiny amount of loss - illustration is repeated again on the plate opposite page 214), top edge gilt (faded), fore and bottom edges rough cut, some very occasional very light finger soiling / foxing (most notable opposite some of the plates), otherwise internally very clean and clear in a Good+ condition throughout. No dust jacket.
