A near-Good rebound ex-library copy of this very hard to find First Edition collection of William Jevons' writings on logic published eight years after his death in 1882. Presented in two sections - Part 1 comprising four of Jevons' writings on the theory of logic (written between 1864 and 1870) and Part 2 comprising his examination of John Stuart Mill's philosophy. An acclaimed economist, statistician and logician, William Jevons was the first economist to define the theory of "marginal" (or "final") utility in his classic 1871 work "The Theory Of Political Economy".

Ex-Belfast (Linen Hall) Library with their plates on the front endpapers and occasional plain embossed library stamps to the text (no other ownership inscriptions).

Book Condition - Good Minus to Fair+: Hardback, 8vo (approx 9 inches / 23cm tall), xxiii + 299 pages with all four mono plates illustrating the mechanism of "the logical abacus" (otherwise known as the "logical piano") all confirmed present in Good condition. Moderate to significant general wear and soiling to the brown morocco leather boards and spine, heavy toning to spine with gilt lettering only just legible, toning / dusting to text block edges (fore and bottom edges rough cut), securely bound with front hinge paper just beginning to split, a couple pages opened a little roughly with some occasional paper edge chips and short closed tears (most notably to the fore-edge of page 75 - no loss of text), lengthy closed tear to page 263 / 264 (no loss but text slightly affected - repaired with archive quality book film), intermittent light (very occasionally moderate) internal soiling and paper creasing, moderate toning / dusting to paper top edges, overall internally Good on lightly toned paper in a very clear and easily readable condition throughout. No dust jacket.
