A Good+ First Edition, second printing copy of this beautifully illustrated guide to the Brittany region of France in the early 1900s. Internally very clean and clear with all plates confimed present and offered for sale complete with a very rare original dust jacket. First published in 1905 and reprinted here for the first time in 1912.
Book Condition (Overall) - Good+: Hardback, 8vo (approx 9 inches / 23 cm tall), ix + 254 pages with seventy five full-page colour illustrations all confirmed present in Good+ to Very Good condition (tissue guard to the plate opposite page 240 missing and a small number of guards creased or replaced with plain uncaptioned tissue paper).
Moderate to significant general wear, patchy fading and soiling to the original purple boards and spine (moderate bruising to spine extremities with some tiny cloth splits, notable mildew spotting to fore edge of rear board - no internal signs of dampness), moderate toning to spine with gilt lettering a little dulled but still clear and bright, securely bound, no previous ownership inscriptions but very faint evidence of some pencilled notations having been carefully erased from the front free endpaper, light toning / foxing to endpapers and text block edges, light vertical crease to front free endpaper, internally Very Good+ in a beautifully clean and clear condition throughout.
Jacket Condition - Fair+: Moderate edge wear and chipping with some short closed tears and small amount of loss as photographed, moderate general toning, light to moderate mositure soiling to front cover, not clipped. Enclosed in an easily removable protective library cover.
