A rebound First Edition reading copy of this book produced to accompany "A Pageant Of Great Women" (first performed at the Scala Theatre, London on November 10th, 1909) with the actors including Cicely Hamilton, Ellen Terry, Marion Terry and Winifred Mayo.
An important volume in the history of the Women's Movement, this was the first title issued by The Suffrage Shop from its temporary Bedford Street, London address.
Rebound with a replacement rear board and spine but retaining the original front board with its paper cover.
Hardback, 12mo (approx 7.5 inches / 19.5 cm tall), 69 pages with fifteen mono photographs of characters in the pageant in Good to Very Good condition (some edge wear and creasing to the frontis portrait but only very light wear to the other fourteen plates).
Book Condition - Fair:
Light general wear to the replacement boards and spine but significant general wear and soiling to the retained original front board with underlying board visible at corner tips and edges, securely bound with hinges fully intact and text block sound, owner's undated name and address on the front free endpaper, moderate to significant browning to the untrimmed text block edges, occasional light internal soiling, intermittent light to moderate foxing (occasionally significant), overall internally Good in an easily readable condition.
