A good First Edition early printing copy of Dickens' classic tale. Not the first printing ("Captain" spelt correctly on the last line of page 324) but with the following First Edition points - Cuttle's hook mistakenly on his left hand in the Title Page engraving and the plate opposite page 238; last 5th and 6th lines on page 284 read "Delight" instead of "Joy"; the word "if" missing from the beginning of line 9 on page 426 and no full stop at the end of the last line of page 582.
Book Condition - Good: Hardback, xiv + 624 pages with 40 b/w full-page illustrations including frontispiece and vignette on the Title Page. Rebound in the original boards with replacement spine and plain endpapers, no half title, list of plates (pages xv - xvi) or errata pages . Moderate to significant general wear to the original three quarter leather grey cloth boards, securely bound, no previous ownership inscriptions, internally generally very clean with moderate to significant foxing to a number of the plates (as is unfortunately common with Dickens First Editions) and occasional light soiling / creasing, short closed tear to leading edge of plate opposite page 151.
Total weight with packaging 1.2Kg.
