An excellent small format copy of one of the later and most hard to find Peter Rabbit books. This beautifully illustrated little book used earlier paintings by Beatrix Potter of her neighbour's guinea pigs which were recopied for the book. It is undated but its pictorial endpapers indicate that it is a First Edition. (Source: Linder's " A History of the Writings of Beatrix Potter".)

Book Condition - Good+: Hardback, 53 pages (all pages, colour frontis and all 14 colour plates confirmed present in good to very good condition). Light to moderate general wear and fading to the original red paper boards with silver lettering and blind stamped picture of Cecily Parsley running away with her wheelbarrow, spine strip has been carefully reattached and is complete with silver title lettering faded but clearly readable, securely bound with front and rear hinges fully intact, some early internal separation but all pages firmly attached, school library annotation in a young child's neat handwriting on blank reverse of frontis plate, generally in an excellent clean and bright condition throughout with some light to moderate soiling to a small number of pages (photographs available). Overall an excellent copy of this hard to find title. No dust jacket.
